Dinner and A Movie 3D Final

Image
Movie Inspiration: Rocketman (2019) Artist Statement: I was inspired by the extravagance and the romantic themes presented in the movie. Having double silverware, double drinks, double empty bottles provides emphasis  on the romantic themes. I chose to paint the background pink with glitter to enhance the theme of extravagance. In order for the glitter to show up on camera, Photoshop was used. The plate was painted with a gold trim in order to further convey an extravagant lifestyle. The plate was broken and then put together; the visible gold line is a reference to Kintsugi or the act of repairing broken objects with gold. The plate is meant to symbolize that even though we are broken, our partners are able to help us come back together.

Artist Statement:     This whole project is to reflect the connection between humans, nature and trash. I posed the model outside to emphasize the idea that the trash humans create is trying to overtake nature. Covering the model entirely in plastic bags but leaving the arm exposed was important. The significance behind leaving the arm exposed was to emphasize that even though the trash that we had created has consumed us as humans, we are still able to break free and try to save nature from what we had created.

Touch Assignment

Image
"The Skin Has Eyes"        8.5x11 Paper, Pastels, Paint, Hot glue "Touch allows us to find our way in the world in the darkness or in other circumstances where we can't fully use our other senses." "By combining eyesight and touch, primates excel at locating objects in space." Pg. 94 Statement: The passage talks about whenever we see a picture of texture, we are able to remember how it feels exactly; hence the skin having eyes. I decided to illustrate the skin having eyes in outer space; outer space due to a representation of space itself. The hand with the eye in the center is supposed to represent the way the blind are able to navigate the world with the use of touch; that their eyes are their hands. I used hot glue around the eye to give dimension to the illustration. "Pain" 8.5x11 Paper, Pastels "Often our fear of pain contributes to it. Our culture expects childbirth to be a deeply painful event, and so, for us, it is."   Page
